The AMBIPOWER MDc-180 Heat Pump is the new generation 178L capacity heat pump suitable for small families. This is available in Low GWP (Global Warming Potential) of <700 GWP using R513a in the Rheem AmbiPower MDc-180 Model No: 551D180.
The AMBIPOWER MDc-180 Heat Pump is the new generation 178L capacity heat pump suitable for small families. This is a smart, energy efficient alternative for areas where a traditional solar water heater may not be suitable. It uses the heat from the surrounding air and doesn’t rely on direct sunlight to heat your water and provides a reliable, efficient, and sustainable way to reduce your water heating energy consumption.
The advanced wrap around microchannel heating technology for uniform and faster water heating making it suitable for cold climates with an operating range from -7°C to higher ambient temperatures.

#Energy savings of up to 70% in Zone 3 based on TRNSYS modelling on hot water energy consumption when replacing an electric water heater (min 16 hours/day). Any savings will vary depending upon your location, type of water heater being replaced, hot water consumption and fuel tariff.

- 3 years supply on sealed system including labour
- 1 year supply and labour on all other parts
*The warranty periods above apply to installations in a single-family domestic dwelling only. For further details, please refer to the Owner’s Guide available under the Downloads tab on this page. Without limiting the above periods, a 5-year whole-of-product warranty applies where: a) A hot water rebate has been received under Solar Victoria’s Solar Homes Program for a heat pump water heater installed from 1 July 2023, and / or b) Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) have been created for a heat pump water heater installed from 1 February 2025. For further details, call 131 031. Proof of receipt of the rebate and / or proof of VEECs being created, i.e. installation quote showing number of VEECs and dollar value, plus proof of purchase (as applicable) must be produced at the time of the service call.
+Rheem warranty may not apply if the water heater is connected to a water supply which: has a Chloride content >250mg/L; a pH <6.0 or >9.5; has a Total Dissolved Solids content >600mg/L; is scaling with a Saturation Index >+0.8, or; is corrosive with a Saturation Index <-1.0.
